“Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.” Luke 10:3-4 NIV
Yesterday I suggested that there might be some questions we should be asking ourselves about how we “Go!”. I didn’t get around to them – here goes:
- Where is the need in my community that is easy to find and puts people at-risk?
- Where is more help needed and the workers are few?
- Where are resources limited and MOST people would tell you there isn’t enough to go around, accomplish a task, or achieve a BIG goal? (Because Jesus wasn’t about achieving BIG goals, he was about showing up.)
- Where is a problem so pressing that the workers have no time to dilly dally around?
When we answer these questions, we are getting somewhere in terms of following Jesus’ call in Luke 10.
More questions than answers will continue to appear as we walk through this text, but for today, let’s brainstorm about places where these questions apply. Who do you know that fits this criteria? From my perspective – we are talking about serving the addicted and their loved ones, among other options.
